New Jen Lane single “Today I Lost My Mind” at radio now!
10 years ago Jen lane released the critically acclaimed and WCMA nominated album,“For the Night”, and the content is just as relevant today as it was then. The songs were inspired by feelings of isolation, a sad, hard world, and the realization that we are all living together on this tiny planet in a vast universe.
The album combines some seriously catchy songs with a laid-back cool that evokes Lucinda Williams and a pure, wistful voice that at times recalls Edie Brickell. The arrangements are classic country, and the production has a vintage feel, thanks, in part, to a near-analogue recording process.
The track “Today I Lost My Mind” speaks volumes to the way humanity is feeling right now but is delivered in a fun yet heartfelt way. The chorus lyrics, “lately I just wanna take you to a show”, remind us all of how we are yearning for the normal we knew just 7 months ago.
“I think we’re all a little out of our mind during this incredibly strange time” says Lane. “It’s really a time that we have to conquer with love, patience and understanding. We can all learn a lot from each other. We don’t have to be so divided. No matter what, this affects everyone, everywhere, and it’s ok to lose your mind sometimes.”
This single gives us a little something to enjoy while Jen is creating music for a new album to be released in 2021.
Jen Lane’s last album, “This Life of Mine”, produced 8 successful singles including “Shoe“, “Movin On“, “This Life of Mine“, “My Man“, “Never Try To Love You”, “Happy”, “Waitin For You”, and “Fools”. Lane was nominated for a 2017 Western Canadian Music Award for Roots Solo Artist of the Year, and was also nominated for a Saskatchewan Country Music Award
for Roots Artist of the Year in 2018 and 2019.
