MAY TOUR, CAMERON HOUSE RESIDENCY, AND SPRING IS FINALLY HERE!

April 21, 2015

Wow! We are only like….2 weeks away from our return to Toronto! The winter went by in a flash thank goodness. It was sure a cold one here in Sask! I’m looking forward to getting back to the good old Cameron House for some spring time, songs, snacks and catching up with all our friends. We’ll be switching things up a little and playing the Tuesday 8pm-10pm spot every week for the month of May! Yay! Then you can stick around to see the Sinners Choir right afterwards!  We will also be playing a few shows in the surrounding areas so check out our tour dates. I want to sincerely thank the Saskatchewan Arts Board for supporting our endeavors, and to our friends and family who help us so tremendously along the way. On the road again! See you soon folks!

Touring, Recording, and having the time of my life!

November 8th, 2014

Hey Everybody! How’s things? I don’t know where to start! We have been going non stop since August! We had a great Western Canadian tour this fall and on the way home we found the Bottega Studio in Kelowna thanks to our friend Michael Donley. Before I knew it I was back on the road to go track my new album there, and I have to say it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life.

Not only is the place magical with its alpacas, owls, big beautiful trees full of woodpeckers, and it’s ponds and frogs and crickets, it was an absolute pleasure working with a team of such good and talented people, in such an amazing studio full of my dream instruments. To Mike Donley, thank you for bringing us to Bottega! Not only did you make it possible for me to come to this beautiful place to make my record, you filled my heart with amazing music on 45’s and 8 tracks that will change my life forever! John Ellis, I can’t thank you enough for pulling this off! It was an absolute pleasure working with you as producer and as always it was amazing to hear you play the shit outta all those beautiful instruments! Thank you for helping me make this record happen! Nick Stecz, It was wonderful working with you! You’re full of amazing ideas and I hope we can play together again someday soon! You can hit drums to my stuff any time 🙂 Jamie Prentice, It was an absolute pleasure working with you as engineer! Thanks for singing BG’s on Fools. I can’t wait to work with you again! Jesse, who knew the care taker was such a talented Banjo player!? We had a blast with you! Thank you for playing on Shoe and for sharing your space with us and showing us great time! To Dana, I’m so glad you were able to make it down! Thank you for helping us document our experience and for singing some BG’s along the way 🙂 To my amazing and supportive husband John Antoniuk. Words will never tell you how much i appreciate what you’ve done for me and what you do for me. Thank you for taking me back to Kelowna and helping me make this record. I couldn’t have done any of it without you. I love you.

I’ll be keeping you all posted as to when to expect to hear something from the new album!

This November we are back at the Cameron House in Toronto every Wednesday from 6pm-8pm! With Snacks! And a brand new duets album! It’s so great to be back at the Cameron. It’s like we have to come to Toronto just to feel like we’re at our local pub. A huge thanks to our Torontonian hosts Lee Fraser and Stephen Jones. You have given us a home away from home and we are forever grateful to you for your overwhelming support!

I will also be hosting Chick Pickin’ Mondays this November at Grumpy’s Bar in Montreal! And, we’ll be playing in and around the area so check out our tour dates for details. I’d like to thank Creative Saskatchewan , SaskMusic and the Saskatchewan Arts Board for supporting our endeavours and making this all possible. Until next time!

On the road again….with a new EP!

August 22nd 2014

The rumours are true! John Antoniuk and I have finally released a collaborative EP together called… you guessed it! “Jen and John”. We had a great kick off to our release tour at the Ironwood in Calgary with Megan Nash and Nick Faye. Thanks to all the staff for making our experience awesome every time! The plaza play in Revelstoke yesterday was also great! We even ran into 4 people from Saskatoon who just happened to be passing by. It’s a great small world sometimes. Right now we are making the trek to Fort St. James for Music on the Mountain, aka, MoM Fest, and we are honored to be going back for the second year in a row! It’s a truly wonderful festival full of truly amazing people! Thanks to Elissa for putting us up on the way out there! Looking forward to stopping at the Soup Wallah on the way to the mountain! Best food ever! So that’s all for now. I’ll be checking back in after MoM Fest to tell you all about it! Happy Happy!

August 4th, 2014

I want to give a huge thanks to everyone at Bon Temps for having us play every Tuesday in July from 6:30 to 9pm! It gave us the chance to really build something special and have friends and fans out who can’t normally make the late night shows. I am truly thankful to everyone who came out to support us and who supported us in spirit! Your efforts have paid off! Our stay has been extended for the 1st and 2nd Tuesday in August (August 5th, 12th)! Soooo, if you didn’t have a chance to make it out yet, you have 2 more chances. We will be giving away free movie passes to the Broadway Theatre and Happy Hour will run all night! Not to mention, the foooood!!!! Yum! It has been so amazing to see so many of you out and to meet new friends and fans alike! Bless you all!

ONE MORE SHOW AT THE CAMERON HOUSE!

I can’t believe we are playing our last Wednesday at the Cameron House this week before we head back to Saskatoon!  We will surely be serving snacks again this week, and there are rumors of others also bringing snacks to share with everyone. Thanks to Genevieve and Danielle for your amazing maple pie last week! It was sooo delicious!  We have had a great time here in Toronto and I will be sad to go. I hope to return in November after I record my album with John Keane in Athens, Georgia this October. We have met so many wonderful people and seen so much great music, it has been a truly humbling experience. A special thanks to Cosmo Ferraro and the staff at the Cameron House for giving us such a great opportunity. I would also like to give a very special thanks to our hosts Lee Fraser and Stephen Jones for their amazing hospitality, their kick ass house concerts, and for making it possible for us to follow our dreams. To Melanie Brulee, It was so wonderful to meet you! Thank you for joining us and making our shows in Ottawa and Kingston rock and for hookin’ us up with a spot at the Painted Lady this Tuesday! It was so nice to meet all your friends and get to know you better. I’m so glad we were able to kick in for your new bike! Thanks for setting that up Jadea Kelly, it was wonderful to meet you too!

Hope to see as many of you out as we can for our last show this Wednesday the 28th from 6pm-8pm!

CAMERON HOUSE RESIDENCY AND MAY TOUR!

I can’t even tell you how excited I am to get back on the road after such a long break! Two Saskatchewan winters in recovery in a row surely has made me shack wacky J   I’m even more excited that this journey begins at the wonderful one and only Cameron House in Toronto this Wednesday evening. If you’re in Toronto, come on down to the Cameron House from 6-8 pm any Wednesday evening this May. John will be kicking things off at 6 and I’m at 7, and of course we will both be accompanying one another. John and I also have a couple co-writes in the mix and you can bet I’ve been writing so you can expect to hear some new stuff from me too! We aren’t stopping there though! We will be heading out to surrounding areas so be sure to check out our tour schedule to find out where we’ll be! None of this would be possible without the support of our friends and fans and the Saskatchewan Arts Board! I want to give a huge shout out to our hosts Lee and Stephen. They are 2 of the most wonderfully generous people I know. Thank you for giving us a home to come to in Toronto, and Thank you for being such amazing music supporters in your community. The world needs more you’s J

Cameron House Residency, May tour, New Album Plans

April 2nd, 2014

I wouldn’t know where to start to re-cap the last year in the world of Jen Lane. In the midst of a year long rehabilitation process after foot/ankle surgery, time moved painfully slow. Over 3 months in a cast will have that effect on anybody, lol. Of course now it seems like it flew by. I’m getting back into the swing of things and it feels great. I’ve been feeling better than I have in a long long time and have found myself diving back in to my writing and taking on some great projects that I’m really excited about. 2014 is going to be a great year!  The plans are already in motion to release a “Duets” record with John Antoniuk this fall followed by a full Canadian tour! I’ve also been awarded a Rawlco Radio 10K20 Grant and I’m making plans for a Jen Lane release in 2015.

Presently, I am pleased to be working with local artist Sarah Farthing on my first album production project outside of my own works. I am really enjoying being on this end of the studio for a change. I’m also enjoying working with this group of amazing energy and personality. Josh Palmer, also engineering the project, as well as Veronique Poulin, Fred Farthing (Sarah’s Dad), and rhythm section Brett Williams aka, SaltOnMooseMeat, and Jordan Welbourne. Week one went fantastic! Looking forward to the next round! And looking forward to finally getting back in touch with all of you! Till next time J
